Moving In, January 2021

We are thrilled to welcome many of our upper class students back to campus in January, as well as our first year students. The Residence Life team remains committed to providing a positive move-in experience for everyone involved. Remember that social distancing is something that we all must take responsibility for and assist with. As you move in to the halls, please help the Residence Life staff by following directions, wearing face-coverings, and self-regulating your social distancing.

Details for Move-in

Most students will be moving in between January 21 and January 24 between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm. To ensure a socially distanced arrival students have signed up for, or been assigned staggered arrival times. This information is also available via their myhousing portal. Please do not attempt to arrive to campus outside of your assigned arrival date and time, if we work together as a community we can ensure a smooth experience for everyone.

For this year, we are asking students to limit the items they bring to campus to the essentials that can fit into a maximum of three-40 gallon totes, two large suitcases, microfridge, television and backpack. We also strongly recommend that you label all your boxes and belongings with your last name, residence hall and room number prior to arrival. Finally, if you own a hand truck or cart, we suggest you bring it with you to assist in your move-in.

Each student will have three total hours to move back into their room. Please plan to arrive to your assigned building promptly at the top of the hour. When you arrive to campus signage and student staff will assist in directing your vehicle to the correct check in location. At your check in location, our staff will be there to greet you and provide you with instructions about the move-in process.

Each student will have three total hours to move back in and set up their room. We encourage you to utilize the suggested schedule below to ensure a smooth and efficient move-in:

  • Hour 1: Remove all items from your vehicle and move it to a long-term parking location
  • Hour 2: Unpack and wipe down all personal items
  • Hour 3: Set up room

Please note that at the conclusion of the three hour move in window, helpers are asked to depart the building. Students are welcome to remain in their room, but should limit movement around common areas in the building during move in hours.

Out of respect for the spirit of the quarantine orders by the Mayor, families should work to remain on campus, or depart the district at the conclusion of their time moving in. All students should plan to remain on campus after they move in.

All students and helpers are invited to partake in our hospitality spaces, which provide snacks and are located outside of the residence halls.
